I am delighted to tell you that we’ve been nominated for ‘Independent Sandwich Shop’ of the year!

I have just completed my entry, emphasising the longevity of my independent business.Surrounded by an ever increasing number of cafes, delis, supermarkets and takeaways, I believe so strongly in my product that, unlike my competitors, I have not been tempted to diversify to the point of losing the identity of the business……Dene’s Deli really is about unique sandwiches! A mystery judge will be visiting us any day then it’s in the hands of the sandwich gods!

Business has survived the January Blues and I am very grateful to all our customers who’ve remained loyal, despite the closure of a Jesmond  Dene Road. I have been passionately involved in discussions relating to the road closure. Please spread the word that our section of Jesmond Road is still very much open….business as usual! Parking in the area is also available ( if you understand the signs!) on many of the side roads as well as on a Jesmond road itself. Remember, we can also come to you and details for delivery and outside catering are all listed on this website.

Fundraising in the deli continues to be a huge success and in addition to giving to Mnda we recently introduced ‘The Evan Almighty’ in memory of Evan Ward, a family friend who lost his battle to cancer at only 16 years of age. He was an inspiration to us all. A great fan of one of our Big Specials – The Pole in One, it was renamed & all proceeds of its sale were donated to Cancer research.  We also continue to regularly donate our ‘Wonka style’ lunch vouchers to worthy fundraisers. These can also be purchased and make a wonderful gift…..bear in mind for Mother’s Day or Easter?
