A home-run design business and a local deli are the top Secret Santa tweeters this week.
Dene’s Deli in Newcastle and DesignbyBecka in Huddersfield ranked amongst UK big social media influencers such as Vogue magazine, Londonist and Mustard Gifts.
There were 2,750 tweets about Secret Santa gifts this weekend and the top five list was created not by number of followers but by analysing the true measure of influence: the importance of engaging with other people online by Bloom agency.
Dene’s Deli owner, Gill Reeve, said: ‘I’m really pleased because I’m a bit of a technophobe!
I simply tweeted about my Christmas hampers with a #secretsanta. At the same time I updated my website with a Christmas blog, which also advertised my hampers.
We have received extra bookings but I’m not sure which activity created the ripple of hamper orders.
I have been running my business for 24 years and am still very hands on in the deli so the social media stuff only happens when I have time to tweet!
Twitter does seem to work well for me; better than Facebook when it comes to publicising news in the corporate market.’
Bloom Agency’s Data Scientist, Peter Laflin, mined the information using the agency’s Whisper tool which analyses how people engage with each other but more importantly – removes ‘noise’ so that you can identify ‘true influencers’.
He said: Two of the top five are independent organisations and it’s great to see them using the power of Twitter to beat the big brands.
